Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The 24-hour Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital provides dedicated continuous specialized care to critically ill patients with a variety of medical or surgical conditions, who require complex multi-organ support.

The service is provided by highly qualified staff (physicians, nurses and allied health) who are specially trained to take care of severely sick patients.

The ICU is equipped with state of the art cardiac monitoring equipment, ventilators, special dialysis machines, and many other equipment.

Note that in the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Ajman site there are other ICU’s at the Women and Children Hospital. The Pediatric and Maternity ICU (PICU) and also a neonatal ICU (NICU) that takes care of severely sick neonates and children as well as women with severe obstetric sicknesses.

Anesthesia and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Anesthesia and PACU offers 24-hour dedicated specialized care of patients, adults and children, that needs to undergo surgery and anesthesia either as planned or emergent procedures. Day-time preoperative evaluation for planned surgeries are also being performed.

The service is provided by highly qualified staff (physicians, nurses and allied health) who are specially trained to take care of patients that needs surgery of any kind.

The operation theatres are equipped with state of the art anesthesia machines including cardiac monitors, ventilators, syringe- and infusion pumps as well as many other equipment. The PACU is equipped with monitors and syringe- and infusion pumps focusing on the care and treatment of patients during the initial postoperative period.

Note that in the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Ajman site there is another Anesthesia and PACU in the Women and Children Hospital. The service being delivered there is focusing mainly on maternity and gynecological surgeries.
